James Stanley Moody - Major in the U.S. Army 12/23/1950 - 06/28/21 James Stanley Moody was born in Canton, Mississippi on Dec. 23rd 1950 to Harry Moody Sr. and Mable B. Moody. At the age of 10 James lost his mother and his father later remarried Laura Moody who along with his grandmother continued to raise James. As a child, James attended Holy Child Jesus Catholic School and went on to attend Rogers High School, class of 69’. After graduating from highschool James enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 4 years. In 1974, James enrolled in Jackson State University where he received his bachelor's degree in 1978. Upon receiving his degree, James decided to continue his service in the United States Army where he served for 16 years and retired as an Army Major. After his retirement from the Army James became a teacher at Ohio Avenue Elementary where he taught Special Education until retiring again in 2015. James was a devoted family man who loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. James married Gloria Jean Jones (Deceased). This union resulted in one daughter Jamikka Sondrell Mercer. He later married Delores Burrell (Deceased). This union resulted in one son (James Cameron Moody Jr.). James was a steadfast Christian who loved God with all of his heart. He was baptized at an early age at South Liberty Baptist Church in Mississippi. He was a member at World Harvest Church located in Columbus Ohio for 20 years where he served as the Lead Usher, Pastoral Care Pastor, Life Group Pastor and on the Leadership Team. He also attended World Harvest Bible College in 2004. In 2018 James married his beautiful wife Sally and moved to Boynton Beach Florida. He joined RHEMI Nation Church where he continued his mission to reach the lost and build the Kingdom of God by joining the Outreach and Leadership Teams. His message of LOVE was always shared from the pulpit and WHEREVER he went. In his leisure time, James loved to travel and play golf at the local Country Club. Anyone who crossed paths with James would often hear him ask “ Are you R.T.A.?” which meant ROUGH, TOUGH and AIRBORNE! James was an honorable man loved by ALL and who truly embodied R.T.A.
