Mary Catherine d'Aubigné Perry October 6, 1992 - August 12, 2021 Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Before she was born, she had two older brothers and an older cousin. When her first brother was born, he was named Matthew. Her grandfather joked, "Matt." A few months later her cousin was born and named Patrick, and her grandfather jibed, "Matt and Pat." Then her brother Nathan came along, and her grandfather continued the silliness with, "Matt, Pat, and Nat." Finally, the only girl in the family was prophesied by her eldest brother as the family dressed for church when he announced, "I'm gonna have a baby sister." And he did. "Papaw" kept the rhyme going when he said, "Now we have Matt, Pat, Nat, and Mcat." Her moniker stuck, and she was always Papaw's "Mcat." Since her brother had foretold her birth and had a second middle of Dabney, Mary Catherine got a second middle name, d'Aubigné, the French origin of Dabney, giving them the same initials, M. C. D. P. Mcat loved fiercely, often to the point of angering those she loved. She had the voice of an angel and was always in Top Choir at Madison Central High School and performed in Carnegie Hall. In addition, she was a member of the Girls' State Championship Soccer Team from Madison Central. She loved soccer and started playing when she was three. When told she had to choose one activity, soccer, ballet, or karate, she quickly opted for soccer and became a licensed referee at age twelve. Mary Catherine was first baptized at Grace Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi, by the Reverend Roger Collins. She later made a profession of faith and was re-baptized at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, Mississippi. She was a social butterfly who never met a stranger, which is why she made such a dynamic hostess and server from the time she was sixteen. She is survived by her parents, Janet Taylor-Perry and stepdad, Rob Finney of Ridgeland, MS; Alan Dabney Perry and stepmother Paula Perry of Canton, MS; her grandmother, Diane Perry of Madison; four brothers and their wives, Matthew and Amy West Perry of Madison, MS, Nathan Perry and Bridgett Tucker Perry of Ridgeland, MS, Caleb and Taylor Rushing Perry of Madison, MS, and Samuel and Rebecca Finney Perry of Ridgeland, MS; step-siblings, Anna Rae Finney Tabarez and husband Mark of Brandon, MS, Christopher Finney, Matthew Finney, both of Ridgeland, MS, Blake Bagwell of Pott's Camp, MS, and Courtney Berryman of Southaven, MS; seven nieces and nephews, Mary Anna Perry, Noah Perry, Alden Perry, Madison and Garrett Bagwell, and Peyton Foust and Anna Leigh Berryman; two first cousins, Karin Perry Kahan (Devin) and Kathryn "Nicole" Norsworthy (Chris); a large number of other cousins, aunts and uncles both real and surrogate, and friends too many to name; and her beloved cat, Blue. Mary Catherine was preceded in passing by both maternal grandparents, Jessie Edward Taylor and Magdalene Ishee Taylor, years before she was born and more recently by "Papaw," Bruce Perry, and her uncle, Bret Perry. In lieu of flowers, Mary Catherine would have been happy for donations to go to one of the following: Center for Violence Prevention at www.msc4pv.org <http://www.msc4pv.org>, Center for Pregnancy Choices at www.cpcmetrofriends.org <http://www.cpcmetrofriends.org>, or Webster Animal Shelter at 525 Post Oak Rd., Madison, MS 39110, Attention: Marge Parker.
