Katherine "Kay" Hunt Flora, MS Kay Hunt died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2021. She was born on May 24, 1934 in Flora, MS one month after her daddy had died of pneumonia. Kay was preceded in death by her son, John Hunt; her grandson, Chase Cook; her father, John R. Childress; her mother ,Katherine Hawkins Childress Lane; her brothers, Jack, Joe, Lee, and Ben Childress, Don Lane and sister, Nancy Yonkers. She is survived by her husband, Bill Hunt; sons, Earl Hunt (Gaye), Ben Hunt (Melissa); daughters, Melinda Hinton and Mary Jane Guidry (Scott). She is also survived by eight granddaughters, four grandsons, four great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. Kay and Bill were married for 67 years, 8 months and 3 days. They married on Feb. 13, 1954. We would like to thank Kare In Home Hospice for their loving care during this time and Sarah Childress Holcomb, Kay's niece, for all the meals and care she has provided the past 3 years. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials and donations may be made to the Flora United Methodist Church, 149 Carter St., Flora, MS 39071. There will be a graveside service honoring the life of Mrs. Hunt on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00am at the Flora Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Will Hunt, Andy Hunt, Brad Guidry, Hunt Guidry, Chuck Lane, Leslie Childress, Bobby Yonkers, and Lewis Childress.
