Virginia Griffin Ward Jackson, MS Virginia Griffin Ward, age 96, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 20, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1925 to Larkin Tandy and Dicie Safronia Griffin in Blue Mountain, MS. Ms. Ward had over 40 years of experience in the church nursery at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson. Virginia is survived by two daughters, Sandra Whatley and Kathy Hodges; three grandchildren, Donna (Jim) Smith, and DeLane (Holly) Ansley, and Nick (Dawn) Hodges; and six great-grandchildren, Dalton Smith, Carsen Ansley, HaiLee Ansley, Sydney Hodges, Nicholas Hodges, Jr., and Caden Hodges. She is preceded in passing by her parents, Larkin Tandy Griffin and Dicie Safronia Griffin; sisters, Cloyce Witt, Wilma Hall, Mildred McBryde, Helen Garner, Jessie Wilson, Julie Ann Hall; and brother, Gaston Griffin. Her husband, Elmer Ward, preceded her in death. Visitation will be Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison from 10am - 11:00 am. A funeral service celebrating her life will begin at 11am in the chapel with an interment will follow in the Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts and donations may be made to the Daniel Memorial Baptist Church, 3784 Terry Rd, Jackson, MS 39212.
