Nancy Lee Scanlon, 76, of Brandon, passed away on December 27, 2021 at her home in Brandon, MS. Nancy was born on February 4, 1945 to Henry and Jessie Brown Modglin in St. Louis, MO. A graduate of Millsaps College and University of Southern Mississippi, she also studied in Rome, Italy and earned her Masters Degree in Psychology. She retired from Charter Hospital in Jackson, MS and then worked as a Librarian for the Pearl Library System. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Sherry Bullock (Steve), Teri Cockerham, and Gina Barker (Alan); grandchildren, Paris Hoelter, Jennifer Bethea, Jarred Creel, Anna Bullock, Alyse Bullock, Philip Cockerham, Alex Cockerham, Jonah Cockerham, Rheanne Dees, Gage Parker, Kylee Parker, Alan Barker, Jr., and Max Barker; great grandchildren, Ainsley Bethea, John Asher Bethea, Brodie Dees, Ryker Dees, and Luka Dees; and brothers, Tom Modglin, Dan Modglin, and Tim Modglin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leo Joseph Scanlon, Jr., father, Henry E. Modglin, mother, Jessie I. Brown Modglin, and a son, Dean Charles Hoelter, Jr. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Madison, MS with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. She will be buried in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson, MS. Flowers will be accepted or you may make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice.
