Alma Kirby Bates, 89, of Madison and recently Plano, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022. She was born on November 21, 1932 and is preceded in death by her husband Everett Louis Bates, parents Michael Dennis Kirby and Genevieve Cavanaugh Kirby, brothers Maurice Kirby, Bobby Kirby, Phil Kirby, Jimmy Kirby, and sister Patsy Kirby East. Alma is survived by her children Keith (Freda) Bates, Vicki (George) Pickett, Stephen Bates, and Susan (Mike) Crandall; five grandchildren, Melissa (Jake) Gouge, Valerie (Josh) Frazier, Lisa (Scott) Parenteau, Ashley Crandall, and Ryan (Leigh) Crandall, and seven great grandchildren; brothers Ted (Mary) Kirby, and Don (Barb) Kirby, and many nieces and nephews. Alma was a loving mother and grandmother with a generous heart. She will be missed dearly by her family! Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Madison, Mississippi. A funeral mass will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the interment to follow at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison, Mississippi.
