I don’t know who put together the video tribute, but it was very well done and quite enjoyable to watch the evolution of Mr. Taquino’s beautiful life. Thank you!

Coach Taquino was a very positive person! Even when you thought you couldn't do a task, he would encourage you to try! If you didn't get it done, he would encourage you to try again until you did. He always said it in a way that made you want to get it right. I have fond memories of him and Mrs. Taquino. Praying God surrounds your family with His Comfort and Peace.

I didn’t know Coach Taquino well until I ran cross country my last few years of high school. I was probably the slowest kid on the team by far but he made me better. He made me better at running and as a person. I was running cross country because I was going to join the Marine Corps after high school. He never mentioned to me that he was in the Marines until he had me come into his office my senior year and he showed me his red MCRD book from boot camp. He gave me some good pointers on boot camp, being a Marine, and off I went. 20 plus years later and I take my daughters to local races where they dominate. I always hope he is in the crowd and hears the name “Nothstine” as a winner because it would surprise him! Heaven’s streets are now guarded by one the fastest Marines I know! Semper Fidelis

Mr. Taquino was a very positive influence to a lot of us in Long Beach, Ms.
As a PE instructor, a softball coach and guidance counselor he touched not only the minds but also the hearts of many students and residents. He was a true role model.
My sincere condolences to his family.

Without a doubt a bright light has left us. George certainly left his imprint on so, so many lives. Those positive imprints will live on and on. For us, along with many other staff members of the Long Beach Schools, George and Ethel are like "family members"; therefore, his passing brings sorrow and emptiness, but leaves many good memories.

We are so sad to hear this news. George and I were good friends for many years. We Coached HS softball together for years . We also ran two marathons together and trained together for a long time. I always enjoyed eating lunch with him and talking about what we would do in retirement. His dream was to Hike the AT and he was able to accomplish that dream. Our Heart goes out to Ethel, and of course Michael and Karen and their families. You are all in our thoughts and prayers!
