Obituary of Penny L. Danford
Please share a memory of Penny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Penny Louise Danford, 59, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2022 after a courageous battle with late-stage cancer. Penny had a passion for life, an adventurous spirit, and the most beautiful smile that would light up any room she entered. She enjoyed life fully with all those around her, always willing to lend a helping hand, provide a listening ear, or hop in a plane or car for a fun trip. Penny never met a stranger and was a beacon of hope for everyone who was blessed to know her.
Her life was shared with many who she loved fiercely, including her husband of 23 years and love of her life, Mike Danford. She and Mike loved to spend time together, enjoying peaceful evenings in their backyard, riding around the neighborhood with their dog Marley, and traveling with family and friends.
The pride and joy and lights of her life were her beloved son, Brandon, daughter-in-law, Katina, and her cherished grandchildren, Bennett and Hayes. Penny was the ultimate Mom and Nae Nae, providing endless amounts of unconditional love, support, and time to her children and grandchildren.
Penny was also a dedicated daughter, sister and aunt, taking care of her loving mother, Louise Dendy and enjoyed spending time with her dad, Billy Franks Mitchell and his wife Betty, her brothers, Billy Mitchell (Pamela) and Stephen Mitchell, and her nieces and nephew, Micah Brittin (Joshua), Amanda Thompson (Brian), and Christopher Mitchell (Leigh).
Penny's spirit will always live on with her close friends with whom she spent many weekends, cheering on her Mississippi State Bulldogs, chasing around and playing with their many grandchildren, and enjoying good food and company.
Penny was an active member in her community, dedicating her life to helping others through her 21-year career at TempStaff, where she was adored by both her coworkers and clients. Penny could often be seen driving around in her blue Volkswagen bug delivering "goodies" and smiles to all of her customers. Penny was also a dedicated servant, serving on numerous boards and committees including serving as the Membership Chair of Executive Women International. This service led Penny to be named one of the 50 Leading Business Women by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2007. Penny and Mike were also members of Pinelake Church and enjoyed attending services.
To know Penny was to love her and she leaves for her family and friends a legacy of hard work, commitment, love, and grace. She will be greatly missed.
Penny is survived by her husband, Mike Danford; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Katina Hutson; grandchildren, Bennett and Hayes Hutson; mother, Louise Dendy; father, Billy Franks Mitchell (Betty); brothers, Billy Mitchell (Pamela), Stephen Mitchell; nieces, Micah Brittin (Joshua) and Amanda Thompson (Brian); and nephew, Christopher Mitchell (Leigh) and many extended family members and friends.
