Life began for Ella Mae Laury McChristian on September 20, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the second child born to the late Rose Ann Bolden and Willie Laury, Sr. She departed this life at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Ella was a loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, friend, and mentor. She left a lasting impression in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She was the Matriarch of the family. She was a strong woman and stood firm on her beliefs until her death. Ella received her education from Sumner Hill High School. She then worked in various capacities. She enjoyed sewing and baking She was a good cook and enjoyed sharing recipes with others. She worked for Jackson Public School District as a bus driver and retired in May 2013 after 30 years. Ella confessed Christ at an early age. Later in life, she joined The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and faithfully attended until her health began to fail. Ella was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lee McChristian for 45 years. Ella’s siblings, Robert C. Bolden, Janice Laury, and Anthony Dewayne Laury, Sr.; brother-in -law, Robert Vaughn; and a sister-in-law, Belinda Laury preceded her in death. Ella leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Stanley (Carolyn) Laury of Jackson, Mississippi, Ricky Larry of Flint, Michigan, Evelyn Teresa (Lonnie) Guyton of Terry, Mississippi and Richard (Evette) Patton of Elk Grove, California; 12 grandchildren, Kanisha, LeQuisha, Lecresha, Whitnee, Jeremy, Whittany, Brittany, Stedmon, Christopher, Rashad, Jewel, and Jemaris; 24 great grandchildren; one stepson, Michael McChristian; one foster child, Nathaniel White; three sisters, Georgia (Frankie) Funchess of Raymond, Mississippi, JoAnn Vaughn of Jackson, Mississippi, and Mandel (Eddie) Wilson of Miami, Florida; six brothers, Charles (Ruth) Laury, Willie Laury, Jr., both of Flint, Michigan, Vaughn Laury, Melvin (Yvonia) Laury, Howard Laury, Kenneth Paul Laury all of Jackson, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
