William Edward Waldrup passed away on October 2, 2022. He was born to Luther and Velma Waldrup on April 23, 1948.   Waldrup was a lifelong resident of Madison before moving to Indianola in 1999. He graduated from Madison-Ridgeland High School where he played numerous sports. He worked at Sperry Vickers Aerospace in Jackson for a number of years before pursuing his dream of becoming a basketball coach. He began his coaching career working part-time at Madison Ridgeland Academy with Richard Duease. Waldrup would go on to coach more than forty years as both assistant and head coach in boys’ and girls’ basketball and track. He touched the lives of many young athletes at MRA, University Christian School, Tri-County Academy, Woodland Hills Baptist Academy, Indianola Academy, Washington School, Benton Academy and Deer Creek School. Coach Waldrup loved watching his young players realize their potential and seeing them succeed on and off the court. He was a mentor not only his players but also to many upcoming coaches. He was an avid sports fan, he loved Ole Miss sports and the Boston Celtics. He loved being at home with his wife and antiquing. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Indianola.    Waldrup was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Boots Whittington and Nell Waldrup, stepdaughter Diana Miles. Survivors include his wife Shelia, son Steven Waldrup, daughter Jennifer (Rick) King, stepdaughter Katie Miles, brother Luther Waldrup, sisters Jean Waldrup, Fran McDonald, Sue Varner, Barbara Wann and Linda Adcock, grandchildren Hayden (Kaylee) Tisdale, Alexandria Satterfield, Sam Waldrup, Lindsey Waldrup and a host of nieces and nephews.   Visitation will be held at Natchez Trace Funeral Home Madison on Friday, October 7, from 5-7 pm and Saturday, October 8 from 10am-2pm with a chapel service at 2pm. Interment will be in the Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.   Pallbearers: Stacey Wilson, Russell Cruise, Bobby Howard, Jack Suddoth, Luther Waldrup, Sam Waldrup, Eric Palmer and Austin Adcock.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coach Ed Waldrup Scholarship Fund c/o Planters Bank, P.O. Box 31, Indianola, MS 38751
