Mary Nell Childress, 88 of Flora, MS was called home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Flora Cemetery in Flora, MS. Mary Nell was born on January 23, 1934, to Roy and Sarah Austin in Moselle, MS. She grew up in Petal, MS where she also attended and graduated from Petal High School. After school, Mary Nell met and later married William Lee in 1953. They had five children She worked and retired from Southern Vital Records Mary Nell is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Sarah Austin, her husband William Lee Childress, her sister Helen Gannim, nephew Jody Gannim, and grandson, Blake Walley. She is survived by her 2 sons, David Childress, his wife Melinda, and children Denise, Justin, Johnny, Austin, and Marshall of Pisgah, MS., Lewis Childress, his wife Georgia, and children Cody and wife Christy, Lane and wife Tiffany, and Shannon Harrison of Flora, MS., 3 daughters, Sarah Holcomb and her husband Brad, and children Kristin and Wyatt of Flora, MS., Amy Long, her husband Alan, and children Bo and Stephen of Lucedale, MS., and Julia Walley and her husband Dan of Ellisville, MS., and nieces Marty and Cathy Gannim and Beth Presley. Pallbearers are Justin Childress, Cody Childress, Lane Childress, Johnny Childress, Wyatt Harreld, Keaton, Sawyer, and Madden Bates. In lieu of flowers for Mary Nell Childress, the family wishes all donations be made to: Mississippi Alzheimer's Association.
