Lela L. Myers, 94, of Madison, passed away on November 19, 2022, at her home in Madison, MS. Lela was born on June 2, 1928, to Robert and Selma Turnage Evans in Conway, MS. She attended the Mississippi School for the Blind before earning an Associate Degree in Teaching from East Central Community College and then continued her education with the Baptist School of Nursing where she earned her degree as an LPN. She left nursing and worked 11 years as a machinist for MIB before becoming an independent contractor for the Clarion Ledger, a job which she held for 45 years. Lela is survived by a daughter, Teresa Larson; sons, Jerry V. Carter and Mike Carter; sister, Mary K. Moss; eight grandchildren, Michelle Milner (Mark), Toby Hannah, Chris Prisock (Regina), Delmer Larson, III (Kristi), Timmothy Carter, Kyle Russell, Paul Bowers (Courtney), and Keith Carter; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin G. Myers, Sr., father, William Robert Evans, mother, Selma Turnage Evans, son, Robert Lee Carter, granddaughter, Laureen Elizabeth Carter, sister, Carolyn Evans, and brothers, Robert H. Evans, John Alton Evans, and Niles Evans. Visitation will be at Natchez Trace Funeral Home on Tuesday November 22, 2022, from 11:00am until 12:00pm with a funeral service at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery.
