Obituary of George C. Pritchett, Jr.

George C. Pritchett, Jr., 75, passed away Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at his home in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Stonewall church in Ethel, Mississippi, conducted by Natchez Trace Funeral Home of Madison, Mississippi.
Junior was born on August 10, 1947 in Alabama City, Alabama to George C. Pritchett, Sr. and Mary Pritchett. His childhood was spent in Purvis, Mississippi, during which he developed a passion for automobiles and motorcycles. After high school, he attended Perkinston junior college, however, during Junior’s education, he was called to military service. Junior served the United States Navy during the Vietnam war for 4 years. He completed 3 tours of service on 3 different carriers. Junior would later attend Jackson State University.
Junior had many trades and careers. Most notably he drove a semi truck and worked construction for his father assisting in the dirt work for the Ross Barnett Reservoir. After his military service, Junior would ultimately relocate to Jackson, Mississippi for a theater position. Junior meet his wife, Vicki J. Flint, during her part-time hours at the theater from nursing school. Many of Junior’s friends and family worked with him at the theaters, where they would attend midnight showings of movies. Junior and Vicki were later married on his birthday in 1974. After his time at the theater, Junior worked overseas in Iraq for 10 years as a contractor in the oil industry.
Junior and Vicki would have 2 children. His 2 daughters, Brooke and Lauren, were everything to him and he was everything to them. He always put them first and they truly got everything they needed. Junior was always up for adventures and events. As soon as you said “I want to go ____” his response was “let’s do it”. Junior loved traveling, cruises, the beach, Disney world, the mountains. He was always ready to go and include an adventure, such as, body surfing with his daughters, was an avid skater, had his pilot license, and loved riding rollercoasters.
After retirement, Junior was diagnosed with an aggressive neurological disease. During his battle with disease, he still maintained his love of travel, watched his daughters be married, and enjoyed his numerous grandchildren. Junior ultimately succumbed to his illness, but even in the latter stages, Junior’s face would light up when he recognized his wife, daughters, and family. They were everything to him.
Junior is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vicki Pritchett of Ridgeland. His daughters, April Brooke Kertis and husband Jeff, of Brandon. Mary Lauren Turner and husband Jason of Brandon. Grandchildren; Michael, Shane, Rhys, Eli, Mareck, Maks, and Mirren, all of Brandon.
