Obituary of Barbara Sue Secrist

Barbara Sue Secrist, was born in Centralia, Illinois to Herman and Ethel Abel in Centralia, Illinois, August 18, 1934. After graduating from high school, she attended William Woods College for Women for a year, then moved to California to start a career in dramatic arts. It was there, in 1951, that she met Bill, her husband of 68 years, who also graduated from the Playhouse. Bill and Sue were married on May 28, 1955, in Palm Springs, CA. Shortly after finishing her studies in Pasadena, Sue was signed by the Rita Leroy Modeling Agency to begin her career in modeling. During her time with the Leroy Agency, Sue was booked for modeling shows throughout the Los Angeles Area. She later became an instructor for new models at that same agency. After moving from California to Michigan, Sue and Bill started a family and having two children, Brett and Dru Secrist. Soon after Brett was born the family moved to Palm Springs, California where they lived happily for 46 years. From there Sue and Bill moved to Las Vegas, NV and finally to Madison, MS to be close to family. Sue is survived by her husband Bill, sons, Brett (Kim) and Dru (Carolyn) Secrist. Granddaughter Kelly (Sabin) Gammel and their daughter Adelyn. Grandson Caleb (Madison) Secrist and their child Christophe Secrist. Sue’s extended family also includes granddaughters; Jenna (Nathan) Law, granddaughter Kaiden Holt and grandson Jordan Yeasley. Along with Adelyn, Sue has 5 additional greatgrandchildren; Kash, Aden, Eli, Onix and Allen.
