Sarah Jean Hudson Gunnell went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 25, 2023. Jean was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 22, 1923 to her parents Sarah Jeanette Dewberry Hudson and Delmar Clayton Hudson, Sr. She was raised in Atlanta and married Charles Thomas Gunnell, Sr. Jean loved her family, she loved her church, she was blessed with her many friends, she enjoyed playing bridge and playing golf.
Jean and “Charlie” had three children: Charlene Gunnell Sandifer Ricks (Jim), Charles Thomas Gunnell, Jr. (JoRena), and Gerald Hudson Gunnell (Edna); Jean had 6 grandchildren, Geoffrey Charles Sandifer (Amy), Meredith Sandifer Roberson, Rebecca Leigh Gunnell (Jason), Charles David Gunnell (Christa), Dawn Camp (Tim), Jon Mallard; and 9 great grandchildren, Ben, Rivers, Skylar, Molly, Madelyn, Gretchen, Kaitlyn, Amanda, and Wesley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Gunnell, Sr; son, Charles T. Gunnell, Jr; parents, Delmar Clayton Hudson Sr and Sarah Jeanette Dewberry Hudson; brother, Delmar Clayton Hudson, Jr; and her granddaughter, Meredith Sandifer Roberson.
There will be a visitation at Natchez Trace Funeral Home (759 Hwy 51, Madison, MS 39110) from 10:30-11:00am on Friday, May 12, 2023 with a graveside service following the visitation at 11:00 in the Natchez Trace Cemetery.
