John Edward Speaks June 18, 1941-June 28, 2023 John E. Speaks, 82 passed away June 28, 2023, at Brandon Nursing & Rehabilitation in Brandon, MS. Services for John will be Wednesday, July 5th at Natchez Trace Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10am with Services starting at 11am. Interment will follow at Pearl River Church Cemetery in Madison, MS. John was born June 18, 1941, in Madison Co, MS to Clifton John Speaks and Gladys Reep Speaks. John attended school at Madison-Ridgeland where he was a very accomplished athlete in football and track. In his work career, John started out in the grocery business and later transitioned to a small engine mechanic until his retirement in 2006. John was an easy-going, well-liked fellow by most that knew him. He was usually smiling and laughing, almost anytime you encountered him. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. His main passion was deer hunting; he was in his element in the peaceful deer woods. He was also a very devoted pet owner. His pets realized they had hit the jackpot the minute they crossed his doorstep. John is survived by his son Gary Speaks of Clinton, MS, brother Robert Speaks (Betty) of Jayess, MS and sister Jessie Addy(Jim) of Brandon, MS. John was preceded in death by his wife Sandy Speaks, parents Clifton and Gladys Speaks, sisters Mable Speaks Hamel, Elsie Speaks Halkowski, Annie Speaks Cowart, Louise Speaks Warner and brother Angelo Speaks.
