Obituary of Nina Nell Rone Hart

Nina Nell Rone Hart passed into the arms of Jesus on July 7, 2023. She was at home in Pearl, Mississippi surrounded by her children. Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm at Natchez Trace Funeral Home at 759 Hwy.51 in Madison, Mississippi. A second visitation will be Monday July 10, 2023 from 12pm until 1pm at St. Matthews United Methodist Church at 7427 Old Canton Rd.in Madison, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with interment at Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison, MS. The Reverend Andy Stoddard will officiate the services. Nina was born in Ethel, Mississippi on October 14, 1932 to the late Mary Oliver Rone and John Thomas Rone. She was the second youngest of nine children – two boys and seven girls. She is survived by her children Evelyn Hart Carpenter of Pikeville, Tennessee; David Hart of Pearl, Mississippi; and Susan Hart Hunter (Mickey) of Pikeville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her three granddaughters and their families, Mary Catherine Carpenter Crocker (Mark) of Garland, TX; Victoria Hunter Campbell (Russell) of Pikeville, Tennessee; and Sarah Carpenter Moody (Thad) of Starkville, Mississippi. Nina has three great-grandchildren, Alaina Campbell, Aubrey Campbell, and Tucker Moody. Other survivors are sisters Minnie Alice “Toots” Rone, Frances Rone Lester and brother George Rone and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hugh Kirk Hart and by a son, Hugh Kirk Hart, Jr. Nina graduated from Ethel High School in 1950 where she was named “Girl Most Likely to Succeed.” She completed a secretarial course at Holmes Junior College before moving to Grenada, MS and then Jackson, MS. After marrying Hugh Hart in 1957, she became a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Nina was very involved in her community, church, and children's lives. She was an award-winning member of the Jackson Garden Club. The Harts were very involved in Wesley United Methodist Church in Jackson and later St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Madison where Nina was in the United Methodist Women, Seasoned Saints, Fellowship Sunday School class, and was the church historian for many years. Nina enjoyed yardwork and gardening as well as sewing and cooking. She was very well-read and loved current events. She read the Clarion-Ledger and watched the local and national news every day. Nina was an avid writer of Letters to the Editor to share her thoughts and opinions with others. She taught all her children to drive and was affectionately known as Mario Andretti. The children would like to thank the many friends and family who have cared for them during Nina’s illness. They would also like to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice for their excellent care during Nina’s last week.
