Tribute to Cheryl by Linda Gardner
I met Cheryl at the Forth Worth Zoo while photographing a lioness and her cubs. By the end of the day our common interests in nature photography formed a lifetime friendship. Charley would often join us in our adventures across Texas. I found a location in
Oklahoma that allowed us access to spending a few hours with bottle feeding and photographing their lion cubs. That was a great outing. Our shared interest in nature photography gave us both wonderful memories and photos to share with others, My time spent with Cheryl and Charley will be a highland of my life. Thank God for our friends.

Cheryl was my talented loving aunt who would always engage in activities with my sister and I as kids when our family would all get together in Tennessee. Whether it be playing Badminton, games,or going out to Tim's Ford Reservoir, she was always up for anything.
She had such a free spirit about her which encompassed her adventurous side. I always enjoyed our talks and hearing you tell your life events not to mention sharing with us your photography talents.
You will be missed and always in my thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace Cheryl
-Love Brian

I never tasted an artichoke until Cheryl cooked me one. She was full of “firsts.” She was a woman of the world with all kinds of information that I never knew. I learned a lot from her.
Rest easy in heaven Cheryl…

As a fellow photographer who also delights in sharing my Smoky Mountain images, it was such a pleasant experience to meet up with Cheryl. Her mannerisms within the Smokes exuded her empathy toward nature and the wildlife she encountered there. The imagery Cheryl captured has such a quality of taking you there, as if experiencing it yourself. This was done whether her medium was on film, video or in her poetry. While Cheryl’s footfalls will no longer lead us to her treasured discoveries, nor will her shadow be cast amongst us, we are blessed with the images she has left behind for our enjoyment, sharing her unique vision of the world, as only Cheryl could. May she rest in peace.

Thank you Cheryl, for adding quality to my life. Amid the bumped and bruises and exploration of college existence, I believe we were meant to be friends and we balanced and added to each other's lives. I've never seen such adoration in another human as Charley made you his friend.
From Route 66 in Memphis TN to Lake Tahoe NV to St. Austine FL, you were my spontaneous teacher and I was your boundary reminder. We had great life experiences that honed us for an adult life. Then we went on separate life paths and careers.
I was looking forward to reuniting with all my southeast friends when I left Seattle.
You will be greatly missed!! Lindy
