Obituary of Jacquelyn Haynie Elliott

Please share a memory of Jacquelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Jacquelyn Haynie Elliott died October 17, 2023, in Jackson, MS after a short illness. She was born October 6, 1931, in Magnolia, Mississippi, to the late Colonel Jewell Gatlin Haynie and Mary Elizabeth Loch Haynie. She grew up in McComb, MS and attended Eastern Kentucky University where she met and married Ralph Clayton Elliott in 1952. As an Army daughter and career Air Force wife, Jackie lived in many places around the world, relishing the changes in culture and food. She and Ralph settled at Keesler AFB and Ocean Springs, MS in 1974, where she continued to be a skilled seamstress and hostess extraordinaire. Her artistic flair was legendary and a party invitation to their unique glass home was prized. After Hurricane Katrina, then Ralph's death in 2010, she relocated to the Jackson area to be a patron of the arts. She always maintained a positive outlook on life. Jackie was supportive of gifts of organ and tissue donation. She was proud of her three children: Sylvia Elliott (Michael Miller) of Winterville, GA, Pamela Laura Elliott of Wichita, KS, and Mark Elliott (Mary Kay) of Vicksburg, MS. She was predeceased by sister Adelaide Schroeder of Buffalo, NY; and survived by sisters Mary Claire Vanairsdale of St. Augustine, FL, and Judy Culley of Winston-Salem, NC. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS and St. Dominic's Hospital for their help and support. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
