JW Magee, age 87, passed away on November 13, 2023, in Jackson, MS. He was born on April 7, 1936, to John and Neenie Rogers Magee in Piggott, AR.
JW was married to his high school sweetheart, June Magee for 68 glorious years. JW’s career as a farmer started in high school when he was President of the FFA. His love for all things outdoors, all creatures great and small continued throughout his life. He incorporated his horticultural knowledge from his farming to gardening. He was a member of the MS Rice Growers and the Delta Council for many years as well as various hunting clubs. He was an avid golfer and loved Ole Miss football. He was a true Man’s Man and known for his generosity. He loved to see the joy of children’s faces when he handed out candy at church which then he was bestowed the title of “The Candy Man”. Those who knew him also know of his love making Hot Sauce & Pepper Jelly. The “No, it’s not that hot.” and his joy in watching his Victim and the element of surprise. However, his greatest love was his family.
