John Kenney, age 85, of Madison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 28, 2023. Born October 18, 1938, in New York City, John was the son of the late Chris Kenney and late Elsie Kenney. John was retired from Mobile Paint Company and the City of Madison. He was a past governor of the Alabama-Mississippi District of Optimist International. He loved all sports and was a staunch Ole Miss supporter. He was a high school football official for 37 years. John graduated from Provine High School, Millsaps College and The University of Mississippi. John met the love of his life, Dolores Killebrew, in 1990 and they were married the following year. Together, they enjoyed traveling and judging barbeque competitions. Together, they also enjoyed cooking together and were members of the Jackson Wine Tasting Society. Dolores preceded John in death in 2017 and now they have been reunited for an eternity together in heaven. He is survived by five daughters, Stephanie Moss (Michael) of Atlanta, GA. and Rev. Dr. Stacy Kenney (Michelle) of Cleveland, OH, Melissa Killebrew of Richardson, TX, Laura Killebrew of Scottsdale, GA and Sacha Waltke (Stephen) of Fort Worth, TX; a sister, Christine Thigpen of Knightdale, NC, and granddaughters, Jodie Kenney and Melissa Lynn Waltke. Visitation will be held Saturday December 2, 2023, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. A celebration of life service will begin at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel and interment will follow in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to St. Columb's Episcopal Church of Ridgeland or to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.
