Lillian was a beautiful soul. She loved to laugh.
I once was at a little revival service in a small inner city Jackson church where the pastor asked her to come up and play the piano. There were no musicians there that night. I am a drummer. There were drums there, but they were in terrible condition and barely set up!
She was trying to contain her laughter while playing because she was so uncomfortable playing unexpectedly and she insisted I get on the drums. It was just her on piano and me on drums, hardly a band but we made the best of it. She would remind me of that every time I saw her for years after that. It was the funniest thing for both of us! I can hear her laugh to this day! That’s just how she was, sweet, funny and she loved to laugh. If you knew her, you loved her, you couldn't help it!
I'll see you on the other side Lillian and we will play another gig with the full band!

Lillian was the epitome of a gentle, Christian lady. She lived her faith. I was privileged to get to know her when I taught Angeline in kindergarten. She was an inspiration with her kindness and love for her family. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers. May God’s peace and strength comfort and sustain them all.

It took me awhile to write this. Not because I have no memories, but because I have so many wonderful memories of my beautiful Aunt Lillian and writing this makes the reality of saying goodbye even harder. Aunt Lillian was the epitome of a Southern Belle! She always dressed in classic tasteful clothing and jewelry and when she dressed up, she was stunning! She was soft spoken, but she could put you in your place with her quick wit and just a look. I loved her laughter. It was never loud or gaudy. She had the best sense of humor and you could always count on a good laugh when in her presence. Not only was she physically beautiful and smart, she was a great cook! She was a devout Christian and loved to play the piano and sing. Although she would tell you she couldn't sing or play very well. It was one of many cherished memories when she did. She was always welcoming, even when you dropped in on her unexpected or brought unexpected guest with you. It was heartbreaking to see her decline over the years. I know she was celebrated when she crossed those Pearly Gates and walked to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ escorted by her sons, Rocky, Randy and a host of angels! I have a hole in my heart that will never be filled until we meet again. I love her so much. Rosalind, Angelyn, Christopher, Abbey, and Megan, my prayers are with you. May The Holy Spirit bring comfort and peace to you.

Aunt Lillian was always so kind to me. When I was a child had taken a Canadian penny from my cousins Rocky and Randy's coin collection. they had shown me. We left to go home and before I got down the street, I told on myself and told my mom what had happened. She took me back and made me give it back to them and apologize. I Remember Aunt Lillian telling me I could have it because they had lots of coins, and she could find them another one. She consoled me and didn't want me to cry. I think she was tickled that I told on myself. I can remember so many other times she was so nice to me. She always treated me like I was her daughter too. I loved watching her play the piano and how much she loved the Lord. She is always hold a special place in my heart!

My very earliest memories involve the Stevenson family. My mother always said that when I was born Mrs. Steverson told Rocky that “little John” had been born. Rocky was a couple of years older than me and momma said one day he knocked on the door and asked if Little John could come out and play. Mrs. Steverson is also responsible for the first time I ever saw color tv. They got a new color tv. First in the neighborhood. She invited all the neighbor kids down to watch Lost In Space that evening. We were all amazed at the color lights on “the robot”. My condolences to the family. But, I’m sure that right now she is calling Rocky and Randy in from “the shady tree” for supper.
