Katie was a joy to know, and I will miss visiting with her; exchanging stories/viewing pictures of European travels; reminiscing about past times; and remembering family and friends from Scott County, MS. She and my Mom, Elizabeth Lay, were best buddies who shared a dear friendship and made many precious memories together. They were always there for each other. Their Gemini birthdays were just one day apart, which probably contributed to their being so much alike. It was via their relationship that I came to know and love Katie. After my Mom passed in 2017, Katie was one of the few, strong links remaining to my Mom’s life, which helped to soften my grief.
How uncanny it was when Katie’s last full day in this world was her birthday (May 27) and the day of her passing was on my Mom’s birthday (May 28). What a blessed gift for both of them to be together again and to resume that sweet, special bond! I’d call that a God wink!!
My heartfelt sympathy is extended to Joey, Sharon, and family. May God comfort all of you as only He can.
