Obituary of Katie Ruth Brown

Katie Ruth Hogue Brown, 93, of Brandon, MS passed away on May 28, 2024 in Clinton, MS.
The youngest of 13 children, Katie was born on May 27, 1931, to Samuel Jackson Hogue and Lula Elizabeth Rolland Hogue in Oak Grove, Mississippi. She was married to the late John William Brown. Katie loved to travel and visited much of Western Europe a number times with her traveling companion and sister-in-law Mary Hogue and others.
Katie is survived by her son, Joseph William Brown of Madison, MS; daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Brown Smathers of Raymond, MS; five grandchildren, John Nicholas Brown, Joseph Sheldon Brown, Cynthia Victoria Brown Hawkins, Kevin William Smathers, and Deborah Michelle Smathers Trewolla. Katie had 4 great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 12 siblings.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:30am at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, MS, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30am in the chapel. Burial will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Magnolia Speech School, 414 Bozeman Road, Madison, MS 39110.
