Granville and his late wife, Shirley, were never afraid to let others see they had dedicated their lives to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. From my childhood at Briarwood Baptist, where they set the foundation for a bunch of unruly Juniors in Sunday School, to "middle" age where they served at Woodland Hills Baptist while I was the organist, and even unto the end of their lives, they served Jesus first. If he didn't see me in the choir room, he waited in the vestibule for me to go to the organ where he gave me a hug and encouragement. Even after Woodland Hills disbanded, he was on my FB page, sending me anecdotes and bible verses. His messages always ended with either "God Bless" or "Have a Blessed Day". I do not doubt that Heaven rang out with Good and Faithful Servant as he arrived to see his Lord face to face.
To Tammy, Mandy, and all the family, I know there is a huge hole in your hearts right now, but I suspect you smile when you think about him and Shirley reuniting in Glory, healed and out of their earthly pain. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will all see them again and be reunited in Heaven.
I pray for each of you to have peace and comfort today as you say your final goodbyes to a man whose life not only blessed you with life but who made sure that they met their obligation to bring you to a knowledge of Christ.
To use the words of the man himself, God Bless.
Love, Dianne Weaver Barnidge.

Oh, I’m so sorry to see this. I had not seen Granville in many, many years. We grew up in the Bond community. He was much older than I but made a lasting impression with his kindness to others and his prowess on the Bond basketball team. Rest in peace, Granville. Condolences to his dear family.

Tammy, Mandy, and Family,
Granville and Shirley were such an inspiration over the years as they served our Lord and Savior at Briarwood Drive Baptist Church and Woodland Hills Baptist Church. They were a great example of a godly couple who was ready for the next assignment God had for them, whether working with children or missions or something else! After the close of Woodland Hills, Granville united with First Baptist Church, Madison and worshipped there faithfully until his health issues took over. What a legacy he leaves here! May God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
