Dr. J. Thad Strange
Dr. J. Thad Strange was born December 1, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana and passed away
December 22, 2024 at his home in Madison, Mississippi. His family moved to Starkville in 1954 and Thad grew from a toddler to a young man in the country among the pecan trees and farmland of Central Mississippi. He quickly adopted the Mississippi State Bulldogs as the team to root for during football season.
Thad began his career as an Architect after graduating from Auburn University in 1977 with a B.S. in Architectural Building. In addition to many other projects, he was the architect in charge of constructing a condominium resort at Sugar Mountain, North Carolina which is still in operation today.
At 40 he decided to change careers and enrolled at the University of Mississippi Dental School where he graduated in 1995 as a Doctor of Dental Medicine. And, in 1997 he graduated from the University of West Virginia with a Masters Degree in Endodontic Dentistry. He began his Endodontist practice in 1997 in Flowood, Mississippi and eventually had offices in Flowood, Starkville, Jackson, McComb and Meridian. He retired in 2023.
In addition to his career in dentistry, Thad had an ability to reconstruct, repair or build almost anything. He was also a talented artist, accomplished golfer and avid hunter. And, he was also known for his special popcorn making skills, his perfect whistle and his ringtone of ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’.
But perhaps his most important attribute, was the fact that he was the most kind, loving, generous and thoughtful person anyone could ever meet. Thad could always be counted on in anyone’s time of need.
