Lydia was such a precious friend. We first met at an academic conference and then a second time at another conference. We never saw each other again, but we wrote long letters full of our thoughts, dreams, concerns, and hopes. We shared literary insights, and she sent me CDs of music she loved. Her loss is immeasurable to me, and I can't imagine the magnitude of the loss to her family. She filled everyone's life with joy and beauty. She was an angel on earth, and as it said in Hamlet, "flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Rest in peace, sweet Lydia.

My heartfelt condolences to you all as you say goodbye to Lydia. I first met her twelve years ago when I wanted to get serious about writing. I found her, and The Mississippi Writers Guild, online, and Lydia welcomed me with open arms. She was an encourager, lifting others around her up as they spread their writing wings. She loved writing, now her words will be missed. Peace be with you all. Lydia, may you rest in peace.
