Lydia Marble Dell, age 65 passed away on January 4, 2022. She was born on April 25, 1956, to Ralph H. Marble and Ann Hasson in Jackson, Mississippi. Lydia was an avid writer, reader, and lover of music; but most of all she loved being a mother to her sons, Destin and Tyler. They were her pride and joy. Lydia was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because being a daughter, wife, mother, and grandma epitomized who she was. Lydia’s heart was evident in her love of writing. She was a member of the Mississippi Writer’s Guild Jackson Chapter. She completed her bachelor and master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Millsaps College and worked as a writing coach in the writing center at Millsaps from 1990-2000. Lydia is survived by her mother, Ann Marble of Jackson, loving husband of 46 years, Dennis, and 2 sons, Destin (Kristen) Dell of Madison, Tyler Dell of Brandon, and one granddaughter, Mary Channing Dell of Madison. She is also survived by a sister, Janet (John Wilke) Marble of San Francisco, California. A brother, Larry (Amy) Marble of Jackson. She is preceded in death by her dad, Ralph H. Marble, and her brother Ed Marble. In lieu of flowers, checks in memoriam can be made out to Mississippi Writers Guild and mailed to: Susan Marquez, President Mississippi Writers Guild, 120 Whisper Lake Boulevard Madison, MS, 39110 A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Monday, January 10th at 2:00 pm. at Old Rice Road Baptist Church in Madison.
