Robert H. Smith Jr. West Point, MS Robert H. Smith Jr., age 81, passed away on January 6, 2022. Robert was born to Helen and Robert H. Smith, Sr. of West Point, MS on May 2, 1940. He was a 1958 graduate of West Point High and of Mississippi State University with a major in Business Administration. He worked for several years for Bryan Livestock in West Point before joining the MS State Department of Health where he was responsible for the healthy upkeep of school cafeterias and local eateries in the tri-county area. He then transferred to the Milk Division where he inspected each dairy in the tri-county area (Hinds, Rankin & Madison) for cleanliness of the milk. Bob's favorite way to relax was to walk. He would usually walk 2 miles per day. He also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and being at his church until just before the Alzheimer's dominated his life. He was an active member of Flowood Baptist Church where he met his second wife, Helen Huleeta Harris (also originally from West Point). That background tie assured them that this was a good match. They were married 13 1/2 years and enjoyed cruises to many exciting places which they talked about for years. Bob leaves his wife, Huleeta and a brother Dan (wife Susan) of Ponchatula, LA as well as brother-in-law Hugh Harris (wife Debbie) from Stapleton, AL, a number of nieces and nephews and many friends (some even from high school and college days). Bob's favorite non-person was his Yorkshire Terrier, Rosie Mae, whom he loved. Bob is predeceased by his first wife, Paulette Weaver Smith and both his parents. ***Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the family wishes for those in attendance to wear a mask.*** Visitation will be on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home from 1pm - 2pm with a memorial service celebrating his life to follow.
