I ate at the Lamar Restaurant for 30 years and loved Chris and Kiki. Although I hadn't kept up with Chris since he closed the Lamar Restaurant, I was so sad to hear that he had died. He was a great guy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Chris was a person who spread joy to everyone he met and knew.. I have many cherished memories of sharing time with Chris with the Uncle Sam band . He will be missed.

So many people have hobbies like hunting, fishing, woodworking, and others. Chris’s favorite hobby was living life to the fullest. He loved life, but the past few years, life has not loved Chris. But throughout his ordeal he still managed to keep and share his humor and wit. I will miss his laughter and his stories. I will miss all those little odd jobs that he would get me to do. But most of all, I will miss my best friend
I stopped by the old Lamar yesterday and just sat there a while thinking of all the good times we shared at that restaurant. But life goes on and the sun will come up tomorrow. Chris’s suffering is over now and he is in a better place. And we will have to carry on and keep his memories alive, but I will miss my friend till my time comes, and then I will see him again. Maybe he will have some odd jobs for me to do, I know he will have some stories to tell.

Our sons, Manny and Jason, became friends at a very early age. From McLeod Elementary to Rosa Scott Middle School to Madison Central High, they remained close friends. They even played soccer together as little ones - appropriately on a team named "the Rowdies". As parents, this gave us multiple opportunities to get to know Chris and Janet. In fact, Chris referred to Manny and Jason (along with friends Brandon and Matt) as the United Nations - a very diverse group of friends. Chris gave our son some work experience by allowing him to help out at the Lamar on a few Saturday mornings. Through the years, there were many times our families crossed paths - from the times Kari would dog-sit for us to our sons being in each other's weddings to enjoying the festivities at Greekfest.
Janet, Manny, and Kari - cherish the fond and funny memories. We are truly blessed to have met and to know the Grillis Family. We wish you comfort and strength during this emotional time.
