Chris Emanuel Grillis, 69, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2023 after bravely battling an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Kyriakey “Kiki” Grillis. Chris was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi where he graduated from Provine High School and the University of Mississippi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree and was a proud member of The Pride of the South marching band. Chris grew up in the restaurant business and carried on the Greek tradition by owning and operating multiple restaurants in the Jackson area. He was famous for his Lamar fried chicken, his Comeback dressing, and the best gyros in town. Chris had a larger than life personality and never failed to provide entertainment with jokes and stories about his Greek family and life in Mississippi. He loved being around people and was recognized everywhere he went. Many friends and former customers have provided a great deal of loving and memorable stories of “life with Chris Grillis”. Chris is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Janet Ingram Grillis; son Manny Grillis (Janet) of Arlington, TN; and daughter Kari Grillis East (William) of Clinton, MS; grandchildren, William and Luke Grillis; brother Dr. Michael Grillis (Melanie) of Fremont, OH; sister Maria Grillis Bowman of Madison, MS; many nieces and nephews and a multitude of loving friends. Visitation will be at the Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Madison, MS from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, January 13. The Trisagion will begin at 6:45 pm.
